Acumen Intelligence is managed by Dan Harvey, a journalist
with more than 10 years' experience producing business, technology and transport magazines
and websites for many of Britain's leading publishers including Dennis, Emap, Euromoney, IPC,
William Reed, RBI and VNU.
In recent years he has become more involved with web development, looking at how technology
is changing the traditional duties of journalists - bringing with it both opportunities
and challenges for publishers. This has resulted in the Transport Briefing and Crossrailnews
websites which adopt a premium, subscription based model - one that has now been adopted
by most websites spun off from UK passenger transport and infrastructure journals.
Dan passionately believes that despite major upheaval and cutbacks in the publishing industry
there remains a market for quality business journalism and technology offers the key to
delivering this. Working with partners and a network of talented freelancers, Acumen makes such a
resource available to publishers and other organisations that know quality content will
help their business to grow.
Workflow is crucial. As a magazine production editor I
knew that if we didn't get it right I'd be in the office until midnight. With the web, workflow is all
about using technology to maximise what you can deliver from a given resource.
